Christmas, A New Year, & New Beginnings

Christmas has come and gone- too fast if you ask me.  I love the Christmas season, the decorating, the get togethers, etc. but more than anything I love having a little one to share it with.  Ella Kate's excitement about this Christmas couldn't help but put big smiles on our faces.   She was so excited about her elf and Santa this year and talked about them constantly.  We loved listening to her tell us what she wanted Santa to bring her,  telling us that Santa was nice, telling us that you can't touch the elf, and that Santa and his reindeer land on your roof and bring you presents.  She also understood this year that we celebrate Christmas because it's Jesus' birthday.  She also told us many times that Mary & Joseph were Baby Jesus' Mommy & Daddy.  She read us lots of Christmas stories that she made up as she flipped each page in her books (too cute).  Lots of memories were made that we will never forget.

To say we are excited about this New Year is an understatement.  We will be adding to our family and moving into our FOREVER HOME.  I'm not going to do a detailed update on the house on this blog- I will be using Facebook for that.  It's just too time consuming and I want this blog to be more of a record of times with our child(ren).  Ella Kate will also be in her first wedding this summer as a flower girl.  We can't wait to watch Aunt Sarah & Uncle Brent tie the knot.  We have lots of fun, exciting times coming up this year!  We are ready for 2016!!!!!

Here is our Christmas in pictures…

When she saw this train at the mall, we could not leave without letting her ride.  She LOVES trains.

Getting ready to decorate her tree the day before Thanksgiving.

She told us the ornaments had "bracelets" so they could hang on the tree. :)

That night, we went to TMT Farms to see Christmas lights.  This was our first time visiting there.  Ella Kate made a new friend, too!  She enjoyed seeing all of the lights and characters.

Ella Kate's very first elf came to visit on Sunday, November 29th.  She named him "Elfie".

He brought her lots of goodies and some doughnuts!

Daddy reading "The Elf on the Shelf" to EK!

"Supper with Santa" at The Drug Store in Reidsville (Thursday, December 3, 2015).  EK was glad to have her friend Tinsley there.

Treats from EK for her daycare friends.

Sitting in Santa's lap at Daycare.  She told us he stomped on the roof and that she was a big girl and didn't cry when she sat in his lap.

Best friends.

Reindeer ornament she made at Daycare.

More ornaments she made.

Goodies she received from Daycare (this was from Mrs. Cindy or "Mrs. Gammy" as EK calls her).

Excited showing us everything in her big bag from Daycare.

Her letter to Santa.  Asking for a Ninja Turtle shocked us. HAHA!

"Breakfast in Bethlehem" at our church on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

Her Great Uncle Jesse & Aunt April were Mary & Joseph in the live nativity.

Pajama Day/Polar Express Day at Daycare- Thursday, December 17, 2015.

Christmas Party at Mrs. Wanda's- Sunday, December 20, 2015.  She was so excited to hear her name called and sit with Santa.

Loving on Santa.

With her present (make-up)! :)

When Santa finished handing out gifts she said "Oh I need to tell Santa something.  I need to tell him I need a jeep."  And she did- and he told her if she was a good girl he might bring her one and he gave her a candy cane out of his basket.  Made her night!

Elfie brought EK a gingerbread house to make.

SO PROUD!

And helping me open my pajamas.

Helping Pop. She is the official present helper.

When we got home, EK had a present under her tree.  It was her Christmas Eve Box.  We started this tradition last year.  It had Christmas pajamas, a book, reindeer food, and a movie for us to watch before bed.

Leaving reindeer food!  She wasn't sure about the carrots.  She said those are for bunny rabbits.

Reading her new book with Daddy.

Cookies & Milk for Santa.

Santa came!

Opening her ornament from us!

Her new Radko ornament.  We started her collection her very first Christmas.

CRANKY!!!!  This was all she kept asking Santa for.

Santa dropped her off a jeep full of play-doh, stickers, and chapstick- her favorite things- at her KK & Granddaddy's house.

Precious!

Books from Aunt Sarah & Uncle Brent.

Taking Mommy for a spin.  I was a little too big and didn't last long in the jeep.

She found it went much faster when I got out.

And a few of our new home in progress…

We OFFICIALLY closed on our land on September 23, 2015.  We bought 12 acres (after much searching).  This picture was taken on September 20th- the first leg of land clearing!

We closed on our construction loan on December 11, 2015.  This picture was taken the next day (December 12th).

We are looking forward to seeing the beginning stages of our house in the next few weeks.
