EK is going to be a BIG SISTER! Brantley Hunter Davis: Arriving March 2016

On Friday, August 21st we announced to the Facebook world that Ella Kate was going to be a BIG SISTER in March.  Only our family and close friends knew we were expecting before then.  This baby had been in our plans for a little while.  We knew we wanted a second one (and this will be the last one for us) so we decided to start trying this past summer.  We were so blessed to find out on vacation that we were expecting baby number two.  He is officially due on March 19, 2016, but we will have him a little earlier than that.  I have not done well this go around with the pictures and updates but we are over the moon excited about this addition to our family.  I have been very lucky to not have any nausea or morning sickness.  This is what made me feel like I was going to have another girl- I had felt the same way I did with Ella Kate.  The only difference I noticed was that I wanted sweets from the get-go with her and with this one I have wanted sour and salty.  I kept telling Hunter over and over that I just knew it was going to be another girl.  Much to OUR surprise, we found out on Hunter's birthday that we were having a BOY after all.  I can't tell you how excited I was to hear that.  I've always wanted one of each and God sure has a way of answering prayers.  I have had so much fun shopping for him already and it's nice to be able to shop in a different section.

Ella Kate was very excited about me having a baby and told everyone there was an alligator in my belly.  Then she said a baby sister was in my belly.  She told us she was going to help "give it bottle and change diaper."  When she found out it was a boy, she totally shut down and did not want to talk about it AT ALL!!  In the last month, she has began to talk about it more and even tells people that Brantley is in her belly.  A few times she has asked us "You hear Brantley kicking me?".  Another day she was sitting in my lap and he kicked and she looked at me with the craziest look on her face and said "Why you do that to me?".  I couldn't stop laughing.  I told her it was not me that it was Brantley.  She then said "Tell him not to do that."  Now she tells us she is going to help with Brantley by feeding him a bottle and putting him on the potty.  I think she thinks he's coming out fully potty trained.  ;)  We can't wait to see her with him and I know she will be a wonderful big sister.

The name:  We knew if it was a boy that we would name him "Brantley Hunter Davis".  This was what Ella Kate would have been named had she been a boy so we saved it!  We have always loved the name Brantley and of course you all know where "Hunter" comes from.  The "Hunter" name runs a long way back on Hunter's side of the family.

How I'm feeling:  I've had a pretty great pregnancy until around November.  That's when I really started getting lots of back pain.  I had some with EK that lasted about 6-8 weeks, but this pain is constant.  It's mostly in my upper back but lately has even been in my lower back, too.  The past few weeks have been restless (tossing and turning) and I've already started getting up a few times in the middle of the night to use the restroom.  The heartburn/indigestion is getting worse and so is finding a comfortable position to sit or sleep.  Hunter has been so good to me and gives me many a back massage.  We have invested in a new pregnancy pillow for sleeping and lots of Icy Hot.  I'm just carrying this baby a lot different than I did Ella Kate.  He is also VERY active so that doesn't help with the pain.  Now that I've got all that complaining out the way, I must say that I know each and every ache and kick is worth it and I am very blessed to be able to carry this baby.  I am counting my blessings more than my discomforts.

Brantley's Nursery:  We are not planning a nursery in our home now because we will be moving to our new house (more on that coming soon) hopefully at the end of May/beginning of June.  So we are just letting him sleep in a rocker in our room and only getting by with the necessities.  I have, however, already started buying things for his nursery at our new home.  We have his bedding and a good bit of decor already purchased.  We are ordering his furniture in the next week or two, and of course I've been buying clothes since the day I heard "It's a BOY!"  I promise to take pictures once we move and have it all set up!

I have not done very well with "baby bump" pictures and updates so it's kind of an all-in-one post until we go back to the doctor.  My next appointment is this Wednesday, December 30th.  Then, I will begin going every two weeks.  Below are pictures from ultrasounds so far and a few bump pictures.  Believe it when they say you show a lot faster and are typically bigger with the second baby.  It's TRUE!  I feel like I'm carrying an extra twenty pounds already!

On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, while on vacation in Amelia Island, we found out we were pregnant!

First doctor visit:  Wednesday, July 22, 2015.  It was a little too early to see Baby Davis here.  I was a little over 5 weeks.

One week later:  Wednesday, July 29, 2015.  Here we saw Baby Davis and he measured 6 weeks and 4 days.  Heartbeat:  122.

 Wednesday, August 19, 2015 (9 Weeks, 4 Days).  Heartbeat:  172.

Baby Davis saying "Hi" to his big sister, Ella Kate!  We announced our pregnancy to the Facebook world two days later.

Ella Kate's "BIG SISTER" picture! :)

Hunter received a wonderful birthday present on Monday, September 21, 2015 (14 Weeks, 2 Days).  Heartbeat:  169.  We found out we were going to add a little BOY to our family.

Our "IT'S A BOY" Announcement picture!

Anatomy Ultrasound:  Wednesday, October 21, 2015 (18 Weeks, 4 Days).  Heartbeat:  144.  Everything looked great but we were unable to check his face for cleft lip and palate because of how he was positioned.  We did get a good full body and spine shot!

Hunter made them check one more time to make sure it was indeed a boy!

 Cute little profile picture!

Bump Shot:  Friday, October 23, 2015 (18 Weeks, 6 Days).

Bump Shot:  Saturday, November 14, 2015 (22 Weeks).

Heading to Savannah for a little Christmas shopping with Hunter, Ella Kate, & Brantley!  We had a doctor's appointment two days after this picture was taken- no ultrasound, but his heartbeat on the doppler was 148.  :)

Glucose Test & 4D Ultrasound:  Thursday, December 10, 2015 (25 Weeks, 5 Days).  Heartbeat:  141. We didn't get many shots in 4D because of how he was positioned.  He was head down, face down, and had his face covered as you can see.   I had to lay on my side for most of this ultrasound to get him to move positions.

He finally showed us enough of his face to check off that he didn't have a cleft lip or palate.

Showing off his knee and elbow.  I probably have bruises on the inside from how much he uses these.  He is a VERY active little baby.

Camera shy.  Side profile and holding onto his ear!

 Covering his face.  :)
*On Tuesday, December 15th (following this appointment) the doctor's office called and said I had failed my glucose test, which didn't surprise me.  We had already been discussing with our doctor that if I did not pass it, she wouldn't make me do the three hour tolerance test because of how that went last time (let's just say it made me very nauseous).  However, because my reading came back so high (189) and a normal reading is anywhere from 130-150, I got the lovely gift of having to go on a 2000 calorie pre-diabetic diet and pricking my finger four times a day.  :/

A few goodies Brantley received this Christmas.  The wubbanub is from KK & Granddaddy. The Alabama goodies are from Aunt Julie, and the animal magnets are from The McLeod family.  He also received his first piggy bank from my mom that matches the one she got Ella Kate!  Love our sweet friends and family!

So that's what's been happening with our little one so far.  More updates to come! :)

October & November 2015

October & November have come and gone and we had lots of fun celebrating Ella Kate's third birthday, taking family pictures, visiting the pumpkin patch, and celebrating Halloween & Thanksgiving.

Ella Kate also started potty training this month.  We tried this summer but she just was not having it and I don't believe in pushing it if she's not ready.  The process began when Ella Kate spent the night with her KK and woke up on Saturday morning (October 24th).  I had a cheerleading competition to judge that day so she was spending Saturday with her KK.  Her KK decided to let her wear some panties she had bought for her.  She had an accident in them and it of course made her cry.  But, that was all it took for her to start using the potty.  Since then, she has done so well and has had very few accidents.  We have kept her in a pull up because we were worried about her being at daycare and being too shy to tell them she needed to go.  But after a few days, she started going well at daycare with no accidents.  We still haven't started wearing panties because she is having some issues with pooping in the potty.  But, I think once we start making her wear panties, it won't take long for her to want to poop in the potty.  She's so wishy washy with the "pooping".  Sometimes she'll tell us she needs to go and other times she cries and runs from us when she knows she has to poop.  She has been staying dry during the night for the most part, too so big girl panties are coming SOON!

Onto other news...We took our annual family pictures/Christmas card pictures on Sunday, October 25, 2015 with Kim Folds.  There were so many that we loved, but these are a few of our favorites…

Our little family.  Ella Kate- 3 years old and 19 weeks pregnant with Brantley.

Love my family of three- soon to be four!

I don't know what it is about this photo, but it's my absolute favorite!

This is a Daddy's girl if I've ever seen one.  She adores him and has him wrapped!

I thought this picture captured her personality so well.  Love that big smile and those dimples!

This same afternoon (after pictures) we took EK to the pumpkin patch at Poppell Farms.  Aunt Sarah & Uncle Brent came, too.  She liked singing on the hayride to the pumpkin patch and had the best time picking out everyone's pumpkin for them. :)

Waiting for the hayride to start.

She has her pumpkin picked out!

Keeping her pumpkin close by!  Not letting go…

Riding the cow train all by herself!

 Here she comes…

Checking out the animals with Daddy…

Laughing at the goat that was "up high".

She thought she wanted to ride the pony.  This lasted about 5 seconds.

Since Mommy is pregnant, Aunt Sarah took EK to jump!

Opening all of her goodies from her daycare party on Thursday, October 29, 2015.

She thought this mummy was too funny!

Trick-or-Treating at Grandma's on Halloween night.  She was "Anna" from the movie Frozen.

 Checking out her candy.

On Thursday, November 26, 2015, we celebrated Thanksgiving!  We had lunch at my Dad's and then went to Hunter's Memommy & Granddaddy's.  We didn't take many pictures on Thanksgiving but here are a couple (literally)…

 EK with her cousin Blaire!
