Church Dedication, Pumpkin Patch, & Halloween

Today our baby girl is 13 months old!  We have had an eventful month this past month so there are many things to share.  We had EK dedicated to our church on Sunday, October 13th (the day after her party).  She was such a little clown during the church service and talked and danced to all the music.  It was such a special day for us.  We are very excited for EK to grow up in a church with such a wonderful children's program and youth program.  I am looking forward to watching her grow close to our Lord!  We had many family members there to watch her dedication and are so thankful for each and every one of them.

As many of you know, EK had NO teeth by her first birthday, but the tooth fairy came and brought her bottom two teeth a few days after her birthday.  On October 15th- her first two teeth started poking through.  :)

I said I would update about her one year check-up as well so here goes...EK had her one year appointment on Wednesday, October 16th.  She weighed 20 pounds and 1 ounce and measured 29 1/2 inches long.  At one year, EK is supposed to be completely off of formula and the bottle.  However, we have had a difficult time switching EK to milk.  She wants no part of it.  We've tried it warm, cold, in a bottle, in a sippy cup, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, 2%, whole milk, etc.  Our pediatrician didn't seem too concerned about it.  She said as long as we give her a cup of yogurt and a cheese stick daily, along with her regular table food, she would get the calcium she needs.  She also recommended us trying silk milk.  EK has done better with silk milk but we still have to mix it with an ounce of formula for her to drink it.  She is too smart for us!  She has done well with the yogurt and we also give her pudding for extra calcium as well.  Ella Kate got four shots at this appointment which broke my heart, as always.  Watching your child cry is NO FUN!  She also had to get her finger pricked, but she wouldn't let them have her hand.  So, they pricked her toe.  And she was a very tough girl- she did not cry at all during the prick or after!  We go back to the pediatrician in January for her 15 month check-up.

We took EK to her 1st Pumpkin Patch at Poppell Farms on Sunday, October 20th.  Aunt Sarah and Brent went with us and I think we had just as much fun as she did.  The animals were definitely her favorite part of the trip.  She got so tickled when the baby goat was talking to her.  I think we are going to have a little farm girl on our hands!!

We recently celebrated EK's 2nd Halloween and she wasn't a big fan of it.  All of the costumes and masks were just too much for her.  Her cousin, Cade, scared her real good and after that...she was done with Halloween.  As you can see from the pictures below, she wasn't her usual happy self.  This is the first Halloween that we dressed EK up b/c she was so tiny last year we didn't want to take her out in the cool weather.   My mom always cooks chili and finger foods for our family on Halloween so we spent the afternoon there and trick-or-treated in her neighborhood.  We had a great time with our little monkey!

I have recently began to sing songs to EK (even though it probably hurts everyone's ears) and she loves it.  She loves "Ring Around the Rosie" and knows when the "fall down" part is coming.  She kicks her legs and gets so excited about it.  She also claps when I sing "Pat-a-Cake".  While we were in Alabama a few weekends ago, her KK got her "prissy wave" down and she does it all the time now when you say "bye-bye".  She has also began to brush her hair with her comb.  She knows exactly what to do with it.  Splashing us at bath-time is one of her favorite things to do!  These days the walls and our clothes are very wet after her bath.  She is starting to climb on top of things (like my mom's fireplace) and tries to get on top of the couch.  She enjoys playing with balls and being chased while she's crawling.  She gets so tickled when we chase her!  She likes anything with buttons, especially my car key and talks to Siri on the iPhone daily.  She also likes to hold the phone to her ear like she is talking on it.  Wonder where she has seen that before??  It is so fun watching her learn new things.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving & Christmas coming up and have already began the holiday shopping.  I keep telling Hunter we are going to have to put a gate around our tree b/c EK is super busy (and wild) these days!!!! We will see how that goes! :)
