Ella Kate- 6 Months & First Easter

Do I really have a 6-Month old already?  Sometimes I wish time would slow down, but I have to admit that Ella Kate is getting to be more and more fun.  The older she gets, the more her little personality shines through and we just can't get enough of her sweet smile and laugh- and those dimples!!!  She definitely knows who her Mommy & Daddy are and we get the biggest smiles when we pick her up after work and after she wakes up.  I love hearing her sweet little laugh, too!

We celebrated Ella Kate's first Easter on Sunday, March 31, 2013.  Our Easter festivities actually began the day before at my grandmother Maw's house.  We had lunch and then an egg hunt.  EK wasn't too interested in hunting eggs.  We helped her find her egg and then she just decided to try and fit it in her mouth the whole time.  It kept her entertained for a while!  I always loved egg hunts at Maw's house when I was growing up and hope that EK can enjoy them for many more years.  The Easter bunny came to see Ella Kate, too.  He brought her LOTS of goodies.  Hunter said he thinks the Easter bunny went a little overboard!! :)  She also received many goodies from others (Nana Linda, Grandma & Papa Greg, Cade, KK & Granddaddy Allan, Aunt Sarah, my cousin Punkin, and Memommy & Granddaddy).  On Easter Sunday, we went to church and then to Memommy & Granddaddy's house for Easter lunch.  It was raining off and on so we didn't take EK out in the weather to hunt eggs there.  I'm sure next year we won't be able to keep up with her hunting eggs!

Ella Kate is still eating about the same although she has started to take some 6 ounce bottles here and there.  The only new foods we've introduced to her since 5 months is carrots and squash.  After she had a minor choking incident on regular squash we decided to make butternut squash instead which is much, much easier for her to eat.  She has also been rolling over a lot more this month and has showed some signs of "scooting".  She just can't quite figure out all of those body parts and how they work together.  She has also started playing in her Activity Center that her Aunt Julie bought for her at Christmas and she absolutely loves it.  One of the toys on there you can touch and it will roll and make lots of noise.  EK LOVES it and can keep it rolling for minutes on end.  We also noticed that she started doing these same hand motions to the arms of the chair and to her bottle when we're holding her.  I guess she wants to see if they make noise and can roll, too???  Our next goal is to try and get her to sit up by herself.  She will sit up for a few seconds then she sees her feet and heads straight for those toes!  This month we have seen lots of "toe-eating".  No matter where she is (her Bumbo, carseat, playmat, chair, etc.) she always finds a way to stick those toes in her mouth.

I have recently started laying in the bed with Ella Kate after my morning bath so that I can have some time to just relax with her before getting ready for work.  The other morning she was laying beside me, eating her toes of course, and then decided to stick her foot up to my mouth to offer me some, too.  I thought it was the sweetest thing!

Ella Kate will be away from both of us again next weekend when I go to Birmingham for A-Day at The University of Alabama and Hunter will be going to Alumni Weekend in Milledgeville.  She will be staying with her KK & Granddaddy Allan.  It's so hard to be away from her but I know they love spending time with her, too.

We go to the doctor next week for her 6-Month check-up and more shots.  I can't wait to see how much she's grown these past two months but I always dread those shots.  It makes me one sad Mommy! I'm looking forward to Spring Break, April 22-26, so that I can spend some much needed time with my baby girl.

I know I don't say this enough, but I am so thankful that EK does not have to go to a sitter.  It makes leaving her in the mornings a little easier (but not much)! :)  I can never thank my Mom enough for taking such good care of Ella Kate!  We are so blessed.

Below are some Easter pictures and 6-Month pictures of our little one...

Before going to the egg hunt at Maw's! EK & Mommy!

 EK & Daddy!

Aunt Misti, EK, and Blaire!  She loves giving Ella Kate sugar!

This is so cute to me!

 Checking Blaire out.

 Ella Kate found her egg.

 Sweetness

 "What's everybody doing?"

Our family of three! Love them so much!

Can't get enough of those cheeks!

 Dimples!!!

Just hanging out in Daddy's lap.

The Easter bunny brought EK all kinds of cool things.  Love all those hairbows and beach gear.  EK is set for summer already.

Close up of EK's basket.  Some more of my favorite blankets in there! Can't live without those!

Close-up of some of her outfits and swimsuits.  Can't wait for SUMMERTIME!

A girl can never have too many hairbows, Daddy!! :)

She absolutely loved looking at all this stuff.  Love her sweet little self and those bunny PJs!

"Mommy, the Easter bunny was sooo good to me!"

 Funny girl!

Eating her basket.  Everything goes in the mouth!

This poor child.  The Easter bunny got her this bunny hat which is 0-12 months and it's very tight!

She doesn't seem to mind the tight fit, though.

 New bunny slippers!

Eating her egg from Emma (one of my students)!  So cute!  And yes, that is EK's first of many Lilly Pulitzer swimsuits sitting beside her.  Adorable!

Thanks cousin Cade for EK's new bunny.  She loves it.  That was so sweet of you to buy it for her.

New hat and book from Grandma & Papa Greg.

Reading her Easter card from Nana Linda.  So cute!

She loved her bunnies and card.  Thanks Nana Linda for always thinking of me!

 Trying to eat those feet...again!

Checking out her basket from KK, Granddaddy Allan, & Aunt Sarah.  :)

She loved it.  Especially the blankie. Can't go to sleep without it!

EK & I before church on Easter Sunday.

 EK in her Easter dress.

 Love this picture.

 Awww.

 "See my bloomers, everyone?"

This is EK's first pearl bracelet from Stacy & Claire Davidson.  So sweet!

 What a mess!!!

Our little family.

Love them all!

Monogrammed bloomers for Easter!

Happy 1st Easter Ella Kate!

My beautiful baby girl!

Love those big blue eyes.

And those cheeks.

Silly girl.

Eating those feet as usual.

"Can we stop with the pictures already?"

EK's April plate we painted.  It's bigger than the plate we usually paint because they were out of those but it was the perfect size to make her umbrella with her hands and feet.

Toe- eating again.  I told you this happens all the time!

"I'm not looking Mommy!"

"Ok, I changed my mind."

Six months is serious.

Just kidding.  It's pretty fun!

Happy 6 Months Ella Kate! We love each and every day we spend with you.

The sweetest blessing I've ever been given.  So blessed to call her mine.

Toe-eating...just one more time!

Loving on her bunny slippers.

Little girls are too much fun!

And last but not least is a video of me trying to get Ella Kate to say "Mama" on Easter Sunday.  She clearly had other plans (like being silly) instead of saying "Mama" back to me.  Fun times!!
