18 Weeks

School is out for SUMMER and IT'S A GIRL!!!!  I am looking forward to decorating Ella Kate's nursery this summer and taking time to enjoy pregnancy. I can't believe I'm almost halfway through it.  A lot has happened since my last post so this one will be kind of long.  We had been anticipating finding out the gender of Baby Davis for a while.  I had a feeling all along that it was a girl.  We went to the doctor on May 15th and saw the three lines which meant we had a baby girl on the way.  Hunter's mom (Kay), my mom, and Hunter's sister (Sarah) joined us on this visit.  The ultrasound was very long as they did the full anatomy scan of the baby.  We were able to see the baby's heart beating away and the four chambers, the brain, the legs, arms, kidneys, etc.  It was so neat to see all of the little body parts.  I think all of us cried a little bit.  The heartbeat was 159 bpm and we have a DVD of this ultrasound as a keepsake.  As soon as we left I had to go buy at least one outfit for Ella Kate!  And of course I did some online shopping.  I bought her first Christmas stocking and a few ornaments for her tree.  I can't wait to buy all kinds of little girly things.

About the name:  I've always said if we had a little girl her name would be Ella Kate.  Ella- I just like the name.  Kate- is after my great-grandmother Kate Lynn and my grandmother Katherine.  We will call her by both names.

Hunter was very proud of me for gaining some weight this visit.  I'd lost 5 pounds since we found out we were pregnant and gained 4 back on this visit.  Ella Kate is a very active baby, especially around 10:00 at night.  She doesn't like for me to lay on my back.  That's when it feels like she's doing somersaults inside of me.  In the ultrasound pictures from this past visit, you can see her kicking me.  She was so cute folded in a little ball during the ultrasound.  She had her knee in her face and foot above her head the entire time. The ultrasound technician had to move her around at the end to get pictures of three body parts and she did not like that.  She covered her face as soon as she moved her!  We are looking forward to meeting our sweet girl in October.
